We recently added to our portfolio another game trailer for the Sony PlayStation Vita when we lovingly crafted a 3 minute in-game movie for Vita Pets by long standing client Sony Computer Entertainment and developer Spiral House. It makes a refreshing change to the now ubiquitous Nintendo DS and 3DS pet sims games.
Competition for the project was intense and we secured this project against some pretty heavy weight competition after a 3 way pitch. Spiral house liked our hand-crafted approach to bringing ‘The Legend of Castlewood Island’ to life and also the fact that we would be handling the entire project in-house. Something many of our peers can’t lay claim too.
With production commenced we set about breathing life into the King and his trusty companion Cosmo. The Game allows you personalise your pooch, while searching for buried treasure with your trusty canine. We worked closely with Sony and Spiral to come up with a style which we felt captured the essence of the story. We modelled, animated, rendered, edited and versioned everything ourselves. It’s a real in-house production in every sense of the word.
We’ve been working with Sony and Spiral House for 6 years now and have established a great working relationship. This project like others before it had a great client who had the confidence to let us lead things. We are all delighted with the results which we think is some of our best work to date. It’s certainly one of the most fun!
Dark Zero gave it a 90% rating saying:
“If you’ve got kids that have grown bored of Nintendogs or simply want a virtual experience of owning a puppy the PlayStation Vita Pets is an awesome experience and I can’t wait to see the next steps it’ll take.”
Our recent repositioning as Makers & Innovators has seen us place even more emphasis on utilizing home-grown talent at our Salford base and promoting from within. If at all possible we try to use in-house skills first before even considering recruiting freelancers.
PlayStation Vita Pets is available now for the Sony Vita.
